The Beauty of Different Giveaway
Karen has written the most wonderful book, called The Beauty of Different: Observations of a Confident Misfit. It is substantial (both in subject matter and heft). It is beautiful, it is thoughtful, it is inspiring, it is something you need. I'm not just saying this because I'm in the book...although, that is pretty much one of the coolest things ever. I'm saying it because the book is truly worth it. I bought several copies and want to give one to you. I will also get Karen to sign it for you. There you have it, a GORGEOUS book, autographed just for you.
If this Beautiful book isn't enough, I'm also giving away several of my Favorite items from the past year. Plan on a few accessories, beauty products, maybe a snack or two. Just to thank you for being here and being part of my story.
Rules:
The contest will remain open for one week, ending December 7 at approximately 11pm CT. Winner will be selected through a random drawing. I'll email the winner and post here once the winner has been notified. You will get an entry for the following:

*The giveaway is now closed. Sarah is the winner and I couldn't be happier, she's been a great supporter and friend. Thanks again for your beautiful comments.*
You know I love stuff--especially if it's free! And I LOVE books! And have I mentioned that I would like to win something for once in my life?
ReplyDeleteI see beauty through the eyes of my children (5 1/2 year old boy and 8 month old girl). Being a mom is the best part of life ever. Even if my kids drive me nuts from time to time. LOL
I have learned so much from my kids, and know that I still have much to learn from them as they continue to grow up and experience life. I could go on and on but I'll try to keep this short. :)
My son has taught me that pink is just a color, that it is his favorite color, and it can be for boys and girls. His first 'thing' that he picked out on his own was a pair of pink flip-flops from Old Navy when he was 2. He has long since outgrown them, and I think I'll keep them forever even after my daughter outgrows them as a reminder of a child's innocence, and the importance of asserting what we want, when we want it! Pink comes in many different shades, and it can add that little something to any picture, whether it's crayon, marker or paint.
My daughter has given me a great refresher in the beauty of seeing something brand new for the first time. It is amazing to watch her, play with her, and just follow her around the house as she cruises along, stopping occaisionally to pull up on a piece of furniture and check things out from a higher vantage. Things look a little different when you're standing, ya know. Something that I perceive as ordinary, just kind of there, she can get really excited about! Seeing her smile as she makes her daily discoveries makes all of smile as we enjoy the discovery with her.
So how's that, Elz, for a wicked long explanation of what I think is beautiful ;) Oh, and I think you're a beautiful person too! And I know that anyone who knows you would agree!

I see beauty in my children. Even at their worst tantrum throwing/fighting moments, I still see the beauty in their innocence and passion for wahtever they are fighing about, and that is beautiful to me.

My red hair is a bit different!!
ReplyDeleteI find surprising beauty at the beach - in the broken bits of shell, small birds at the shoreline, pelicans in formation, sea oats catching the last rays of sunset. All so beautiful to me.
ReplyDeleteand now - I'm a follower!

My children are the most beautiful things I see everyday and as I continue to hone my photography skills my camera lets me see them in a whole new way!
ReplyDeleteI find beauty in the Texas sky. I cannot get over how beautiful it is some days. It is nothing like the sky up north, which is gray every day from about October through May.
ReplyDeleteI'm a new mom, and I've got to say, I've never really experienced anything as beautiful as motherhood. Its astounding, and something I'm grateful for every single day.
ReplyDeleteAuthenticity is most beautiful.

ReplyDeletewhere i go to find beauty is exactly where i am standing at any given moment. beauty is all around, but mostly it is in one's attitude.

although i had never had the pleasure of visiting your site before, thanks to a tweet from karen i have found you so i am a new follower (google reader). avid steelers football fan here...hope i am still welcome and eligible for the prize!
ReplyDeleteI see beauty in what makes me "different". My son and I both have Asperger's Syndrome which has a whole lot of quirkiness associated with it. However, we are both completely comfortable with these quirks and have learned to celebrate them. Where I go to feel beautiful? Anywhere my son and husband are!
ReplyDeleteI find beauty through the lens of my camera.

I think I'm different because I've chosen to the mom of a large family, through birth and adoption. That rocks and is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBeauty usually smacks me square between the eyes when I least expect it. Being outside on a gorgeous day, either alone or with loved ones, is when I experience natural beauty in it's most pure and simple form.
ReplyDeleteI think I'm different because while I appreciate all of the fabulously magnificent material things in this great big world, I have an even greater appreciation for life's simple (and FREE) pleasures; seeing my kiddo at school at the end of a long day, having a deep conversation with a close friend, going for long walks with my hubby, running on a cold and sunny winter morning, etc.
Thanks for the chance Elz!!
Hugs~

Lately I have been finding beauty in winter. It's something I've never found beautiful before, just as pain. But there is something about the cold and the way it affects us all, makes us bundle down, that I find comforting.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the awesome giveaway!

I find beauty in sound. Be it a beautiful or inspiring piece of music, my husband's voice, or my son's laugh. They are all beautiful.
ReplyDeleteRight now I'm finding beauty in all the sparkly things I'm getting out of bins for Christmas decorating. Usually this task is burdensome, but I'm trying to make it fun this year.

I see beauty through my camera lens - even when it's not with me. When I got serious about improving my photography a couple of years ago I realized that "looking for photos" opened my eyes to things I had been ignoring for years.

I see beauty in the laughter of my children, in the quiet moments when we are reading together and in the night watching them sleep. I also see beauty in nature every day - watching the birds at our feeder or seeing the leaves on the trees change and fall.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great contest!
